Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence, in short, is abuse or violence in a home. This could be a parent to a child or a husband to a wife, and in some cases vice-versa. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of some sort of physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. Women that are abused by their husbands sometimes find it hard to leave them. This may be due to not wanting to burden their child with a divorce or simply due to the fact that they love their spouse too much to leave them.

People that may not know much on the topic of domestic violence may ask, "Why doesn't she just leave him if she is being abused?" Domestic violence affects victims not only on a physical level, but also emotionally and psychologically. Domestic violence is essentially bullying, but much, much worse. These acts of violence come from a loved one, making it that much harder for them to get out of that type of situation.
